Ben Lecomte, a French man with a love for the ocean, swam 8 hours a day for 3 months in the Atlantic Ocean. Having the highest concentration of ocean plastic in the entire world, he and his crew took on a very serious excursion to complete this mission. Having all sorts of scientists and doctors on this crew, checking Ben’s vitals daily was crucial. What touched me the most about this expedition was the reasoning behind it. Putting aside Ben’s passion for doing research on the ocean, raising money for cancer research as a tribute to his father was heart-warming. Following Ben on this journey was almost as amazing as him landing in SF, just 15 miles from my hometown. Not only did this inspire me to set goals that I have to work hard for, but this also inspired me to have a good reasoning behind everything I do.
